Seeking a Cure for Leukemia

One of Kentucky's major golf events is the annual Rocky Adkins Golf Tournament, which brings hundreds of golfers to Morehead, Kentucky, each May. Since 1999, funds raised by the tournament have supported the Hannah Jo Smith Leukemia Research Fund at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Ten-year-old Hannah Jo, pictured at right, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 1997, when she was 4 years old. She underwent successful chemotherapy treatment for two years and has been off therapy since 1999. Hannah Jo returns to Cincinnati Children's annually for check-ups in the Tennis Masters Series Long-Term Survivor Clinic.
