GBBN Architects: Giving Back to Their Home Community
Sometimes it's the little things that put everything in perspective.
For John W. Rogers, AIA, ACHA, director of health care for GBBN Architects, that came in the form of a young girl at the 2006 Cincinnati Walks for Kids, the inaugural fundraising walk for Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. The little girl was holding a big sign thanking sponsors for supporting the medical center.
"In that moment, I knew beyond any doubt that we were doing the right thing by supporting Cincinnati Children's," John says.
GBBN has long been one of the medical center's most generous corporate supporters. Over the years, the company has provided philanthropic support through financial gifts, sponsorships and participation in events, including The Celestial Ball and Cincinnati Walks for Kids.
"Everyone I've met at Cincinnati Children's over the years has strived so hard to do their best for the kids," John says. "It's an amazing organization to be part of, and we know we're really making a difference."
GBBN's generosity has impacted programs and divisions across the medical center. The decision to support Cincinnati Children's was an easy one, John says. The hard part was deciding which program or division to fund. "There are no bad giving opportunities at Cincinnati Children's; all the programs are deserving," John says.
The company now donates a substantial portion of its gifts to the Cincinnati Children's Fund, a general fund that supports the most pressing needs of the medical center.
"Giving through the Cincinnati Children's Fund helps make our annual giving decisions easier because we know our gift will be used where it is needed most," John says.As a longstanding and involved member of our community, GBBN recognizes how many lives are impacted each day by Cincinnati Children's, and how important their contributions are to helping the medical center bring hope and cures to children in our region and around the world.
"Cincinnati Children's is a world-class institution sitting right here in our own backyard. It's a great investment and a natural fit for us," John says.
