2005 Total Value of Community Benefits Provided: $126 million

Internally Subsidized Graduate Medical Education ($17 million)
The cost of training medical students, residents and fellows. The amount is the cost of providing education to prospective physicians minus the funding support of the Children's Hospitals Graduate Medical Education Program from the federal government.
Charitable Community Outreach Programs ($4 million)
Programs that provide services / support directly to the community or to nonprofit organizations with similar missions of service. The benefit amount indicated is the net support provided at cost by Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center after all grants, fees and other funding sources are accounted for.
Charitable Patient Care ($40 million)
Free or discounted services for those unable to pay because they are poor or underinsured. The benefit amount includes the shortfall from Medicaid reimbursement based on the cost of providing the care to Medicaid recipients (after accounting for support from the Hamilton County Health and Hospitalization Levy and the Hospital Care Assurance Program).
Internally Supported Medical Research ($65 million)
Laboratory science and applied research, including facilities, equipment and research not covered by outside public or private grants and industry support.
