University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics

Overview

Location R is the home of Research on the Cincinnati Children's Campus.

The University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics consists entirely of faculty members from Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, one of the nation's leading pediatric research and teaching institutions.

Arnold Strauss, MD, chairs the Department of Pediatrics and directs the Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation. The Foundation, which is the umbrella organization under which the Department of Pediatrics falls, ranks second nationally among pediatric institutions in direct funding from the National Institutes of Health.

The Department of Pediatrics includes 420 full- and part-time faculty. Total sponsored program awards now exceed $126 million -- nearly doubling the amount of funding received just five years ago. This increase in funding correlates with extensive publishing; in 2005-06, our faculty published 836 peer-reviewed publications and authored five books.

Our faculty currently conduct research in nearly 600,000 square feet of state-of-the-art laboratory and office space, and construction of a new 363,000 square foot research building is nearly complete at the Cincinnati Children's Campus.
