Family Advisory Council Award of Excellence in Family-Centered Care
Recognizing Health Professionals and Family Members Who Exceptionally Promote Family-Centered Care
The Family Advisory Council at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center established the "Family Advisory Council Award of Excellence in Family-Centered Care" to recognize health care professionals and family members who have been exceptional in promoting family-centered care within the Cincinnati Children's community.
How Nominees Are Recognized and Honored
Two nominees will be selected to win per year -- one staff and one family member.
Criteria by Which Nominees Are Judged
Family-Centered Care is a way of practicing medicine that involves families as equal partners in the care of their child. The Cincinnati Children's Family Advisory Council wants to honor both families and hospital staff members who work hard to include families by promoting family-centered care.
- Dignity and Respect: Made an effort to listen to your point of view and honor your background, values, and choices.
- Information Sharing: Gave information that helped make the best choice for the patient.
- Participation: Encouraged patients and families to participate in their care and decision-making at the level they choose.
Nomination Form Submission
The Family Advisory Council notifies nominators and nominees and provides them with details about the awards recognition ceremony. All previously nominated individuals must be resubmitted to be considered for the award.
