Bill Kent, senior vice president, Clinical Care Delivery, joined the Family Advisory Council at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center during April 2004.
Bill and his wife Karen have two children, Lauren and Ian. The Kents moved to Cincinnati from Baltimore, Md., where both Bill and Karen worked in administrative roles at Johns Hopkins for 13 years.
The Kents have been using Cincinnati Children's services for two years. Ian receives Occupational Therapy and speech services through the Kelly O'Leary Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders.
"As both a parent using Cincinnati Children's services and an employee, I wanted to participate in a group that could assist Cincinnati Children's in continuously improving the services to our patients and families," said Bill, who is a member of President Jim Anderson's cabinet.
"My hope is by being directly at the table in discussing parents' concerns, ideas and suggestions, I will be able to assist in making changes on their behalf more expeditiously," Bill said.
"I hope I will be able to be a good listener for the Family Advisory Council, but also an educator / navigator, of sorts, about how things operate and how to get things done at Cincinnati Children's," Bill said.
"The Family Advisory Council is one of several significant ways Cincinnati Children's can obtain feedback and insights into the experiences of our families and patients," Bill said. "In our commitment to family-centered care and our quest to pursue perfection, the Family Advisory Council serves as a wonderful way to ensure Cincinnati Children's is meeting the ongoing needs of families."
