"Cincinnati Children's is truly leading the way in family-centered care," said Jane Portman, a member of the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Board of Trustees.

"My goal is to help communicate to the Board of Trustees the many wonderful ways in which the Family Advisory Council works to continually strengthen the climate of caring, understanding and excellence here," Jane said.

"My husband, Rob, and I have three children, ages 15, 14 and 10," Jane said. "Though our family has, so far been blessed with relatively good health, the Portman kids have spent their share of time at the Cincinnati Children's ER and beyond, tending to a number of typical childhood illnesses, stitches and broken bones."

"We have experienced, first-hand, this world-class hospital and appreciate how lucky all of us in Cincinnati are to have such a strong combination of outstanding medical expertise and genuine caring for patients and their families," Jane said.

"Family-centered care is important for everyone who comes through the hospital doors, whether it's for a one-time medical need or for ongoing treatment," Jane noted.

Jane joined the Cincinnati Children's Board of Trustees in January 2005 and became a member of the Family Advisory Council in April 2005. She also serves as Chair of the Chaplaincy Committee and as a member of the Cincinnati Children's Executive Committee.
