"Maybe if I can help on the council, I can develop a greater understanding to pass on to the others in our department and training classes." -- Janet Moulton

Janet Moulton joined the Family Advisory Council in April 2007. She started as a customer service representative in the Radiology Department and now works as a trainer and Quality Control auditor in Outpatient Registration at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

"As a trainer in Outpatient Registration and Research, I have been very lucky to work in almost all of the clinics at base and most of the satellites," Janet said. "I believe this has given me a much broader experience than most people that have worked here only three years."

"I met some of the parents that worked on the Family Advisory Council while volunteering for the telethon and, at one of their suggestions, I looked into more about the council," Janet said.

"I am constantly training and working with others that interact daily with our families and try very hard to give our new hires 'a heart' for why they are important and why Cincinnati Children's is so different. I believe that having personal contact with the cares and concerns of the families will help me achieve this goal better. We work here, but they live here. How could the family's voices not be important?", she asked.

"On a personal level, I love working with our families, even when it isn't the greatest situation for anyone involved," Janet said. "Maybe if I can help on the council, I can develop a greater understanding to pass on to the others in our department and training classes. I would like to help develop ways for the patients to have more opportunities to be kids."

"I have enthusiasm and true heart for service. I believe everything happens for a reason. The project or need will find me -- it always does! It just happens!" Janet said. "I am a jack of all trades, and if I don't know how I'll learn how!"

Janet and her husband Bill moved to Florence, Kentucky, from South Dakota, several years ago with their children Jillian and Connor and Janet's mother Edna. They are originally from the Rochester and Andover New York area.
