Overview

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Family-Centered Care Committee assists and coordinates with the overall function of psychiatric family-centered care projects within Psychiatry and assists with the enhancement of family-centered care initiatives throughout Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Family-Centered Care Committee began in 2003 as a feedback focus group that helped drive proactive change. The outcome was synergy and parent-initiated projects, including:

  • Creation of the Inpatient Family Guide web link
  • An emergency room video made by parent for parents
  • An electronic newsletter, “Changing Minds”
  • Parent Mentor Support Program
  • Design of Parent Resource Handbook that began in 2004
  • Developed discharge questionnaire for parents

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Family-Centered Care Committee helps identify families' needs and then help to fill those needs. Parental feedback has become integral to process changes as the Division of Psychiatry strives for continuous improvement.

Mission

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Family-Centered Care Committee's mission is to receive feedback from parents about policies, procedures and processes and to identify and implement opportunities for improvement in patient and family care.
