Summary of System Level Measures

At Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center we gather system level measures that reflect the overall quality and safety of our clinical care delivery system. These measures represent dimensions of:

• Access: Wait time for 3rd next available new patient appointment at our outpatient specialty clinics
• Flow: Percent of patients who are delayed in transferring to a patient room
• Quality
• Adverse drug events (ADE) per 1000 patient days (overall)
• Ventilator Associated Pneumonia per 1000 ventilator days
• Bloodstream infections per 1000 catheter days
• Codes outside the ICU: per 1,000 patient days
• Percent of Eligible Patients Receiving Evidence Based Care 
• Surgical Site Infections per 100 procedure days
• Satisfaction
• Satisfaction ratings for inpatient care
• Satisfaction ratings for outpatient care
• Team Well Being: Turnover rate (nursing only) and employee injury rate associated with lost work days
• Reducing Hassles for Caregivers: Touch Time
