Inhalant Use
Inhalant use is on the rise in teenagers age 12 to 17, according to a recent report. The National Survey on Drug Use and Health surveyed more than 23,0000 youths in 2002. Based on the survey, they estimate about 2.6 million teenagers have used inhalants in the past. The numbers were half a million less two years ago and comes at a time when overall drug use by teens is down. Inhalant abuse also appears to be more prevalent for ages 14 or 15, with almost 5 percent of this age group having used inhalants in the past 12 months.
