Children's Offers "Touchpoints" Programs
CINCINNATI -- Children's Hospital Medical Center will provide a series of programs for healthcare providers who work with children intended to improve the providers' relationships with the children and their families.
The Touchpoint Series, developed for pediatricians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, child care providers and others who work with children and their families, will be offered in three sessions on Feb. 27, March 27 and April 17, 1999. Sessions are offered either from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. or noon-3 p.m.
Touchpoints is a model of care developed by noted pediatrician T. Berry Brazelton and is based on his 1992 book of the same name. The Cincinnati Touchpoints initiative is a collaboration among Cincinnati Children's, the Hopple Street Neighborhood Health Center, the Babies' Milk Fund, and the Procter&Gamble Pampers Parenting Institute.
It's anticipated that by training providers in the use of the Touchpoints model, the patient-provider relationship will be strengthened, leading to more effective and efficient patient care.
The faculty for the series will include physicians, psychologists, advanced practice nurses and social workers. Registration is $75, which includes either lunch or breakfast, Dr. Brazelton's book, and workshop materials. Health professionals in many disciplines can earn continuing education credits.
