Child to Celebrate Valentine's Day With New Heart Transplant is First for Cincinnati Children's New Heart Center

CINCINNATI -- Dyllan Michael Short will celebrate Valentine's Day this year with a new heart after receiving a transplant at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati. Dyllan, 20 months old, received his new heart February 2 from a pediatric donor after being on the transplant list for only about two weeks. He lives with his siblings and parents, Timothy and Wanda Short, in Carrolton, Ky.

Although Cincinnati Children's was one of the first centers in the world to perform pediatric heart transplantation when it did its first transplant in 1986, Dyllan's is the first transplant since Children's established its new Heart Center just this year.
