Cincinnati Center for Developmental Disorders (CCDD) to Sponsor Spring Walk-a-Thon May 2, 1999
CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Center for Developmental Disorders (CCDD), an affiliate of Children's Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati, will sponsor the third annual "Walk-the-Walk" walk-a-thon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at Devou Park in Covington, Ky. Registration will begin at 9 a.m.
Participants will have the opportunity to choose among a scenic one-mile, three-mile or five-mile route. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided. Participants raising $25 or more will receive a t-shirt on the day of the event.
CCDD, established in 1957, provides diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, training and education for infants, children and adolescents with a variety of developmental disorders. This year's event will benefit CCDD's early intervention programs. Early identification (birth to age 3) of developmental problems is an important factor in enhancing development and minimizing the effects of developmental delays.
CCDD's developmental assessment team identifies these children in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Families also receive help in understanding the nature of their child's problem, assistance with developing a care plan, and referrals to community resources. Follow-up occurs on a regular basis to assure that services are appropriate and to measure progress.
Sponsors for the walk are Fifth Third Bank, Firstar, Gateway Investment Advisors, Group Health Associates, the Procter & Gamble Co., Ross Laboratories and the Junior Cooperative Society -– a fundraising auxiliary of Children's Hospital Medical Center.
