FunRaisers Present Annual Check to Children's Hospital Medical Center

Thursday, April 01, 1999

CINCINNATI -- FunRaisers, a singles group that has given thousands of dollars to benefit cancer research at Children's Hospital Medical Center, will present its annual check to Cincinnati Children's during it's annual party at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 1999, at R.S.V.P. Banquet Center, located off I-275 at Wards Corner in Loveland.

FunRaisers is the area's most successful singles organization for professionals over 30. It has been raising money through parties, dinners, trips, golf and tennis outings and other events for 14 years.

Including this year's $30,000 donation, FunRaisers has collected nearly $400,000 for Children's since the group was formed in 1985. The group also gives a personal touch to its philanthropy. Every summer members hold a picnic for cancer patients. Every December, a FunRaiser member dresses up as Santa and distributes toys to hospital-bound children.

Donations from FunRaisers have funded such items as a video and handbook for newly diagnosed patients and their families and a tissue bank for studying tumor cells. "The invaluable support of the FunRaisers has helped us do research into childhood cancer, helping us to improve care for our children," says Robert Arceci, M.D., director of the hematology/oncology division at Children's. "And the group's generous gifts of toys and time have cheered many of our young patients."
