Jean Turner Wins Edwards Award

CINCINNATI -- Jean Turner, a reading room assistant in the Radiology Department at Children's Hospital Medical Center, has earned the E.W. Edwards Award, Children's Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati's quarterly award for outstanding job performance.

A member of the Radiology Department for more than 30 years, Turner works in the films library, locating patients' x-rays. This task "is no trivial matter, as the x-rays can be located in multiple sites, multiple departments and occasionally in the trunks of doctors' cars", says Radiology Director Janet Strife, M.D., in her letter nominating Turner.

Those nominating Turner for the award praised her for more than her ability to locate files. They also agree that her positive attitude, dedication and commitment to delivery of the highest level of service are an asset to the department, the medical center and its patients.

"Ms. Turner cares about each patient and feel responsibility for finding the films so that doctors taking care of the patient may view them. . . . She always arrives early for work and brings enthusiasm, positive attitude and energy to her job daily," says Dr. Strife.

The quarterly award carries a $200 cash prize, which was presented to Turner at a special luncheon in her honor.
