Olympic Torch to Stop at Cincinnati Children's

CINCINNATI - On Monday, December 17, the Olympic torch will be brought to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center for patients, employees and their families to enjoy.

The Coca-Cola polar bear will be visiting patients room-to-room from 2 - 4 p.m. The polar bear will bring plush Coca-Cola polar bears and 2002 Olympic pins to share with patients throughout the afternoon.

At 7:45 p.m., Morgan White, 2000 Olympic gymnast, and members of the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympic Board from Utah will arrive in the Coca-Cola caravan at Cincinnati Children's. Ms. White will pass the Olympic torch to Dee Ellingwood, senior vice president of planning and business development at Cincinnati Children's, as employees and their families wave Coca-Cola Olympic pennants in the air. Employees and their families will then have the opportunity to talk to Ms. White and Olympic board members prior to their visit with patients in the child life activity center at 8 p.m.

"We are excited to be one of only a few children's hospitals in the nation chosen to take part in the memorable Olympic torch event," says Mr. Ellingwood.

Cincinnati Children's vision is to be the leader in improving child health. The medical center currently employs over 6,500 professionals, serving the health care needs of infants, children and adolescents, and provides research and teaching programs that ensure delivery of the highest quality pediatric care to our community, the nation and the world. The 340-bed facility consistently ranks as one of the country's top 10 pediatric hospitals.
