Kentucky Procats Visit Cincinnati Children's

CINCINNATI - On Thursday, February 14 at 2 pm, patients at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center will receive a visit from Kentucky ProCats players Derrick Lyons (from Southern Indiana University), Duane Simpkins (from the University of Maryland) and Melvin Levitt (from the University of Cincinnati).

"Many of our patients were fans of the visiting players when they were on local college teams and continue to follow them throughout their professional careers," says Sharon McLeod, director of Child Life at Cincinnati Children's. "We're all very excited they can join us."

Child Life at Cincinnati Children's is a unique department of dedicated child life specialists focusing on promoting optimal growth and development in children, reducing the stress of health care experiences, providing support and education to children and their families and advocating for psychosocial care in pediatrics.

"It's important for all children to strive for goals in their lives," says Levitt. "The purpose of our visit is to set an example for these children and remind them that it's not too late to achieve their dreams."

Based in Crestview Hills, Kentucky, the Kentucky ProCats are the newest and only professional basketball franchise in Kentucky. They compete in the American Basketball Association Eastern Division, which includes seven teams from across the United States. The ProCats will be hosting the Indiana Legends at the Thomas More Connor Convocation Center this Saturday, February 16, at 7:30 pm. For more information, go to http://procats.aba2000.com/.
