Lee A. Carter Honored As Caring Philanthropist

CINCINNATI -- Lee A. Carter, chairman of the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Board of Trustees, was honored at the 17th annual National Philanthropy Day Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency as a caring philanthropist. More than 700 individuals were in attendance at the November 17 luncheon.

National Philanthropy Day is a joint effort of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Greater Cincinnati Planned Giving Council. National Philanthropy Day is intended to publicly recognize and thank individuals who have contributed to the Greater Cincinnati community and the charitable organizations they embrace.

Carter, a Cincinnati native and resident of Hyde Park, founded Local Marketing Corporation, a marketing consulting firm, in 1971 after working for the Drackett Company in sales and marketing. He sold Local Marketing Corporation in 1989 to Grey Advertising in New York and continued to run the company until his retirement in 1995.

Carter has served on the Cincinnati Children's board since 1979. He also has served on the board's investment committee and long-range planning committee. He has chaired the Board of Trustees of the Convalescent Hospital for Children, an affiliate of Cincinnati Children's.

His community service includes chairing the board of the Cincinnati Institute of Fine Arts and the Urban Design Review Board. He has served as a board member of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Art Museum, Cincinnati Arts Association and The Seven Hills School.
