Drug and Poison Center at Cincinnati Children's Offers Tobacco Information Line
Adult and youth smoking rates in Ohio are among the five worst in the nation, which costs our state $3.4 billion in health care according to Tobacco-Free Ohio.
To help eliminate these alarming statistics, the Hamilton County Tobacco Partnership (HCTP) created the Tobacco Information Line through the Cincinnati Drug and Poison Information Center (DPIC) at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
The Tobacco Information Line, funded by the Ohio Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Foundation, offers information on issues such as secondhand smoke, cessation, prevention and advocacy. The line is available any time at 513-636-KICK (5425).
DPIC at Cincinnati Children's is a 24-hour emergency and technical information telephone service for anyone with concerns involving poison or drugs. DPIC's specially trained staff of pharmacists, pharmacologists and nurses answer questions about poisonings, drug abuse, product contents, substance identification interactions and adverse reactions, and now tobacco.
The Hamilton County Tobacco Partnership includes more than 25 local agencies that specialize in the areas of public health, health care, and addictions. Its mission is to create a tobacco-free Hamilton County. For more information is available at 513-946-7812.
