Poem: I am Different

I am Different is a poem written to reflect the dedication and personality of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the faculty and staff at Cincinnati Children's who help change the outcome for children and young adults from around the world.

I am different
I am a haven for the ill among children
And for those who anguish for them
I am a heart as big and as open as the land where I live
I am arms that can wrap around all
I am a smile, a word, a touch
I am a family to every child
I am hope

I am different
I chose to fight for children, but I feel chosen
I am stoic outside
I am calm, my keel is even
I am raging inside
At the ravages of childhood disease
At pain visited on the young
At the absence of their joy

I am different
I never sleep, nor will I ever
I never rest, nor do I want to
I am the hope of too many early lives
I have too many answers to find
I have too much to teach
I have perfection to strive for
I am Cincinnati Children's
I am changing the outcome for children around the world
