Biography

Cinnamon Dixon, DO, MPH, is an assistant professor of pediatrics in the Divisions of Emergency Medicine and Global Health.  Her research interests include global pediatric injury prevention and trauma care, and dog bite prevention.  Her current projects include: pediatric trauma epidemiology in Campinas, Brazil; and the development of a novel intervention for child safety utilizing multimedia technology.

Outside of research, Dr. Dixon’s professional achievements have included: a 2010 World Health Organization Department of Violence and Injury Prevention internship; a Student Oral Presentation Award at the 2010 Ohio Public Health Association Combined Conference; the 2010 University of Cincinnati Department of Public Health Student Spotlight; a 2009 Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, Systems Improvement at District Hospitals and Regional Training of Emergency Care in Ghana scholarship; and co-leading development of curriculum objectives for the American Academy of Pediatrics Global Child Health Education Modules Project.

Additionally, in her pediatric training, she was awarded the 2007 Children’s Mercy Hospital’s Pediatric Emergency Medicine Award, the Pediatric Critical Care Award, the Mercy Award recognizing “3rd year resident role model”, and the prestigious Darrow Award recognizing the “Outstanding house officer of the year.”
