Dr. Edwards was awarded his PhD in Psychoeducational Processes, clinical psychology track, in 1986 by Temple University, where he was awarded the University Scholar Fellowship.

He was the vice-president and assistant executive director of a private Jungian psychiatric treatment center for young adults and has been in private practice since 1989, offering psychotherapy and meditation training. In 1997 he began practicing biofeedback and neurofeedback. He serves as past president on the board of directors of the Northeast Regional Biofeedback Society and has helped organize several regional biofeedback conferences. He has been on the faculty of New York Medical College as a clinical instructor in the Department of Family Medicine since 1998. He helped develop their new elective course in integrative medicine. Dr. Edwards was certified in hypnosis in 1991 by the New York Society for Ericksonian Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy (NYSEPH).

He is licensed in New York as a psychotherapist (LMHC-NY). He has taught meditation internationally for over 35 years and trained teachers in numerous meditation approaches. Dr. Edwards was a pioneer in bringing complementary and alternative approaches in the field of mental health. He integrated yoga, meditation and nutritional programs into residential mental health treatment in the 1970’s. In the early 1980’s he ran meditation and yoga programs in state and federal penitentiaries. In 1988 he ran a clinic and mobile hospital in rural India that integrated western medicine, ayurvedic medicine, homeopathy, meditation, yoga and other modalities. He has joined Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to help develop the Integrative Care Program.
