Biography

Ryan Macks, PhD has worked at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital since September of 2004. He came to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for a postdoctoral fellowship with Developmental Disabilities and Pediatric Behavior  Psychology. Upon completing his fellowship in 2005, Ryan accepted a position as a staff psychologist. His primary responsibilities include psychological assessments and treatment of children and adolescents, as well as supervision of graduate students and residents. He also currently serves as his department’s Director of Training.

Ryan grew up near Baltimore, Maryland where he first got involved with the field of developmental disabilities by working as an assistant teacher at Cedar Lane School (a school exclusively for children with developmental disabilities). During his time in Maryland, Ryan was also a program coordinator for the Howard County and Maryland State Special Olympics. These early experiences solidified Ryan’s interest in and commitment to the field of developmental disabilities.

Ryan went on to earn his BA from Dickinson College with a major in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. He then earned his Master’s in School Psychology from the University of Virginia where he stayed on to earn his PhD in Clinical Psychology. Ryan completed his residency at The Help Group in Sherman Oaks, California, before coming to Cincinnati.
