Biography

Jonathan Castillo Porter, MD, graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine and subsequently completed a pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.  From 2005 to 2008, Dr. Castillo completed a National Research Service Award Fellowship in General Pediatric Research, also at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.  In 2008, he obtained a master of public health from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.  He has been a member of the National Hispanic Medical Association and the Academic Pediatric Association.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Castillo is currently a member of the Division of General and Community Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.  In this position, he provides hospitalist services on the General Inpatient and Pediatric Consult Service at Cincinnati Children’s.  He has teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students and collaborates with other faculty in his department who are particularly focused on education and training.

His continuing interest is the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs related to resident training in global health.  He also collaborates with colleagues pursuing academic activities related to issues of equity in medicine and in processes that address such issues, particularly with regard to the clinical care of Latino and Limited English Proficiency patients and families.
