Biography

Franklin O. Smith, MD, received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed post-doctoral training in pediatrics at the University of Florida and a fellowship training in pediatric hematology / oncology at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

Dr. Smith is a specialist in the field of acute myeloid leukemia and cord blood transplantation. He has had numerous articles published in prestigious medical and scientific journals nationally and internationally.

Dr. Smith is active with various international and national committees and societies in the field of research and clinical care.

BS: Chemistry, Wofford College, Spartanburg, South Carolina, Cum Laude, 1980.

MD: University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Columbia, South Carolina, 1984.

Internship and Residency: University of Florida, College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Gainesville, Florida, 1984 - 1987.

Fellowship: Pediatric Hematology / Oncology, University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, Washington, 1987-1990.
