Child Life Specialist

What are a child life specialist's educational requirements?

Patients talk through computers.

Requirements for becoming a certified child life specialist are based on academic and internship experience and successful completion of an examination process.

A bachelor's degree is required. While there are a few colleges across the country that offer a degree in child life, most child life specialists have degrees in childhood development, early childhood education, recreational therapy, psychology, or a related degree.

More information about how to get certified can be found at the Child Life Council web site.
