J-1 Health Insurance Requirement
The Scholar's Responsibility
All international and relocating staff of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center are required to have J-1 Health Insurance.
Plan Coverage Requirements:
- Medical Benefits of at least $50,000 per accident or illness
- Repatriation of remains $7,500 or more
- Medical Evacuation to home country $10,000 or more
- Deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness
The Insurance Company must have:
- A.M. Best rating of “A” or above
- An Insurance Solvency International, Ltd (ISI) rating of “A-1” or above
- A Standard & Poor’s Claim-paying ability rating of “A-“ or above, or
- A Weiss Research, Inc. rating of “B+”
- Insurance coverage backed by the full faith and credit of the government of the exchange visitor’s home country shall be deemed to meet this requirement.
Proof Submission Requirements:
- Researchers: Proof of insurance must be submitted to UC International Student and Scholars Office upon arrival
