As a medical center with connections all over the world, we strive to facilitate the transition of new employees and visiting scholars. In order to support new members of our community, we have gathered the following resources.

Cincilingua International Language Center and Translation Service provides private one-on-one instruction at a downtown facility, which can be tailored for accent reduction work.

  • Flexible scheduling / frequency of instruction -- arranged with each student, Monday through Saturday from 9 AM – 9 PM
  • May change instructors if not a perfect fit.
  • Overview of direct method approach: Lesson conducted only in English, giving learner opportunity to speak as much as possible during the lesson Conducts greater part of lesson orally, concentrating more on structure (how words are put together) than on individual words. Controls teaching in such a way that most of the sentences produced by the learner are correct. Diagnoses extent of learner's knowledge before supplying a model or providing a solution. Keeps theoretical explanations to a minimum.

The Language Bank, International Family Resource Center offers beginner, intermediate and advanced level English classes.

Offers daily ESL classes as follows:

  • 8:45 am - 10:15 am, or 10:30 am - noon
  • 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
  • Beginner, intermediate and advanced level classes available during these periods.
  • Disadvantages: not grouped by nationality and may include lower skill level.
