Phase I is an orientation training period that lasts between 16 and 36 weeks, depending on the pediatric specialty area chosen.
- One-on-one clinical training with a team of preceptors
- Work with preceptors to manage patient assignments
- Customized classroom education
- Regularly scheduled Topical Seminars
- Alternative clinical experiences outside the home unit
Phase II
Phase II is an ongoing training and professional development period that lasts from the conclusion of Phase I up to one year.
- Function as independent professional RNs
- Integrated into the interdisciplinary care team
- Regularly scheduled Topical Seminars for continued learning and support
As a nurse progresses through the program, more time is spent on direct patient care as the time spent attending classes decreases. The regularly scheduled topical seminars continue throughout the program.
