Nurses New to Pediatrics

Cincinnati Children's provides individualized orientation for nurses.

Meet Angie
Angie began her career at Cincinnati Children's after many years of caring for adult patients. Hear her story.

If you have not worked in a pediatric nursing environment in the past, rest assured that you will receive all necessary training at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

Individualized Orientation

Cincinnati Children's provides individualized orientation for all nurses who are new to Cincinnati Children's. We will provide:

  • Growth and development education
  • A customized orientation based on your unique needs and previous experience
  • An assigned preceptor with whom you will work side-by-side (typically for six to eight weeks)
  • Instruction on providing family-centered care

Working with Children and Families

An intradisciplinary team, including other nurses, physicians, social workers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, chaplains and others are available to provide confidential support to any nurses making the transition to pediatric nursing. They can help you develop the tools you need to deal with the specific challenges of taking care of children and families.

Your Experience Counts!

At Cincinnati Children's, you will be compensated for the qualifications, experience and abilities you bring to your career with us.
