As part of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation strives to be a leader in improving child health. Founded in 1931, the Research Foundation currently encompasses basic, translational, clinical, and quality research aimed at answering the questions behind childhood disease in an effort to improve child health. Our past findings — including the Sabin oral polio vaccine, the first practical heart-lung machine, and the discovery of key ingredients of the surfactant preparation — serve to inspire us today as we look to genomics, molecular medicine, and pharmaceutical therapies to treat a wide range of pediatric afflictions.
Our scientists and physicians within the academic Divisions of the Research Foundation work collaboratively toward our many objectives: providing education and training in research, conducting innovative basic or laboratory investigation, performing patient-oriented research to translate discoveries into improved clinical care for children, investigating the outcomes of treatments of patients to improve care, and piloting studies in the community to improve the health and well-being of all children.
