Comprehensive Diagnosis, Care and Treatment for Pediatric Hypertension

The Hypertension Clinic sees more than 600 patients a year and offers consultation, diagnostic testing and treatment. We offer a full range of services to help your child and family manage a diagnosis of hypertension.

All children with blood pressure over 120 / 80 should be monitored closely, as they are at risk for developing hypertension. The most common type of high blood pressure in children is the inherited (genetic) form, known as primary hypertension. It’s often seen in children and adolescents who are overweight, and accounts for the majority of hypertension cases in both adults and children.

We offer a full range of care, diagnosis and treatment including:

  • Ambulatory 24-hour blood pressure monitoring with interpretation of results
  • Screening for co-existing lipid abnormalities and evaluation of risk for diabetes and lifestyle- or obesity-related organ damage
  • Nutritional education to teach families how to reduce sodium
