Neurology / Pediatrics Combined Residency Program Overview

The residency in Child Neurology consists of five years of clinical training, two years of General Pediatrics, one year Adult Neurology, one year Child Neurology and one year of electives. 

The program is an ACGME-approved program. Graduates from the program will be board eligible in Pediatrics and in Neurology with special competency in Child Neurology.

Training Objectives

The purpose of the program is to train physicians in the area of pediatric neurology. Participants will be well prepared for board certification and child neurology practice.

Qualifications

Applicants for our program can enter at the PL I level or at a PL III level. Applicants for PL I level will also interview with Department of Pediatrics faculty. All applicants from US medical schools will be considered as well as WHO recognized foreign medical school graduates. We are especially interested in applicants with an academic interest in laboratory or clinical neurosciences.

Mark Schapiro, MD, is the training program director.  The Education Committee of the Division of Neurology is responsible for the curriculum.
