Neurology Program Description
Year I and II consists of General Pediatrics under the supervision of the General Pediatrics Program Director (Javier Gonzalez, MD). This includes rotations through all major pediatric subspecialties as well as outpatient experience in a pediatric continuity clinic plus specialty clinics.
Years III, IV and V are with Neurology
PL III consists of nine months in Adult Neurology at University Hospital and the Veteran's Administration Medical Center under Dr. Brett Kissela and three months of clinical child neurology.
PL IV consists of six months of clinical child neurology, three months clinical neurophysiology (EEG, EMG, evoked potentials), one-month psychiatry, one-month neuropathology / neuroradiology, and one-month elective.
PL V consists of three months child neurology, three months adult neurology (senior resident), and six months of electives. The electives can be clinical or research electives.
Deadlines
Applicants for all five years of training must apply before November. Interviews will be scheduled with General Pediatrics (one day) and Neurology (one day). Applicants for PL III level or higher can apply at anytime. Interviews will be scheduled with Neurology only.
