The Division of Allergy and Immunology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center has taken objective measures of the steady increase in divisional research activity. The impact can be measured in a number of ways. From 2001 to 2007, the number of yearly publications increased from 21 to 35. From 2001 to 2007, the number of direct grant funds increased from $ 0.9 million/year to $3.5 million/year. At Cincinnati Children's during the same time period, the number of yearly publications increased from 669 to 982 the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Research Foundation (CCHRF) and the total annual revenue from all CCHRF grants increased from $65 to $124 million.

The relative value of our division's contribution to Cincinnati Children's research activity can also be compared using the direct grant revenue/square foot of laboratory space. Within our division, grants $/square foot were $506/square foot; whereas, the 2005 data average at Cincinnati Children's was $386/square foot. The Division of Allergy and Immunology has been highly active in generating intellectual property. In particular, Allergy and Immunology has submitted 20 recent disclosures. The total number of invention disclosures submitted from the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Research Foundation since March 1995 was 229.
