Anesthesia Didactic Opportunities
The anesthesia fellowship program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center offers didactic opportunities. These include:
Tuesday Afternoon Conference, 2 hours each week
Lectures and problem-based learning conferences covering the major topics in pediatric anesthesia. We utilize high-fidelity medical simulation in our training, and have an active visiting professor program.
Wednesday Morning Grand Rounds, Monthly
Lectures from faculty pediatric anesthesiologist and other departments in the medical center, visiting professors from leading institutions around the world or faculty from the University of Cincinnati Department of Anesthesiology.
Friday Afternoon Cardiac Cath Conference, 3 hours each week
Pediatric anesthesia fellows rotating on the cardiac anesthesia service attend this conference. Cardiac surgeons, cardiologists and our faculty discuss upcoming cardiac cases.
Pediatric Anesthesia Journal Club, 2 hours every 6 months
Fellows lead the discussion of significant journal articles.
Cardiac Journal Club, 1 hour every month
Anesthesia cardiac anesthesia faculty and fellows, cardiac surgeons, cardiac intensivists and perfusionists meet monthly to discuss significant journal articles or research projects.
Wednesday Morning Research Conference, 1 hour every month
Faculty and fellows present research projects in the planning or results phase.
Wednesday morning Continuous Quality Improvement, 1 hour every month
Faculty and fellows present cases for discussion.
Pain - Six 30-minute one-on-one pain faculty attending to fellow; didactic sessions during pain rotation.
Fellows are active members of our departmental educational activitie, and will present case reports and grand rounds during their fellowship year.
