Overview
The Pediatric Endocrine Training Program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is directed by Susan R. Rose, MD. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (AGME).
The program strives to train individuals for careers in academic medicine. It is a full-time, three-year program. However, for those physicians who are bent toward academically based careers, we encourage additional research training. This may be in the form of a fourth year of endocrine research training spent here in our laboratories.
Occasionally, Cincinnati Children's has sent graduating fellows to postdoctoral fellowships at the National Institutes of Health, or they have entered the Procter Scholar Program, a mechanism, whereby physician-scientists can obtain substantial additional exposure and experience in a basic science laboratory.
The goal is to train individuals for careers as academic pediatric endocrinologists. The objective is to provide a broad-based experience in clinical pediatric endocrinology with instruction and supervision by qualified faculty that ensures clinical competence.
Cincinnati Children's produces trainees who are eligible for subspecialty certification. The faculty also strive to develop the teaching skills of each fellow and provide the environment for a meaningful and productive research experience.
