Procter Research Scholars

Although the program is designed to turn out well-trained academic nephrologists, it is increasingly difficult to develop all of the skills necessary for independent investigation in three years. We actively encourage our graduates who intend to undertake basic research to identify opportunities for additional supervised research time before assuming a regular faculty position.

One such opportunity offered at Cincinnati Children's is the William Cooper Procter Research Scholar Program. This program provides an additional three years of basic science training to physicians who have completed a standard fellowship. Some graduates of the Nephrology Training Program have become Procter Scholars. This program necessitates a separate application process early in the third year of the fellowship.
