Research Training
Research training is the primary goal of the second and third year of the pediatric nephrology sub-specialty fellowship. The research training program is supervised by Dr. Bissler, Director, Fellowship Training Program. The program is based in the laboratories of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, as well as in a number of cooperating laboratories. Training is focused in six major areas, chosen because of their relevance to childhood kidney disease and because of well established, nationally-known research programs at Cincinnati Children's:
- Focus area #1: Genetic Renal Disease
- Focus area #2: Renal Development
- Focus area #3: Renal ischemia and Apoptosis
- Focus area #4: Renal Transplanation
- Focus area #5: Endocrinology of Chronic Renal Failure
- Focus area #6: Urinary Tract Development
