From the moment you begin your fellowship in Nephrology and Hypertension at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, you will work directly with nationally known faculty members who work in a variety of disciplines within the Division. Following is a list of the faculty who work with fellows during their training, along with links to more information about each faculty member.
- Prasad Devarajan, MD
- Research Interests: Molecular mechanisms underlying the response of the kidney to various forms of injury; determinants of renal regeneration shared by the developing kidney.
- Clinical Interest: Novel biomarkers and treatments of acute renal failure
- John J. Bissler, MD
- Clinical Interests: Hemofiltration and autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease
- Research Interests: DNA biochemistry and the role of intrinsic DNA instability leading to disease; DNA directed mutagenesis within the PKD1 gene.
- Brad Dixon, MD
- Clinical Interests: Polycystic Kidney Disease, biology of bladder augmentation.
- Research Interests: Microenvironmental influences on damage to and repair of DNA.
- Jens Goebel, MD
- Clinical Interests: Improving the clinical care of pediatric kidney transplant recipients and their families, as well as advancing basic and translational investigations into immunological aspects especially relevant to the field of transplantation.
- Research Interests: T lymphocytes, lipid rafts, cardiovascular and metabolic issues especially as related to the long-term outcome of pediatric kidney transplant recipients, efforts to design and modify immunosuppressive protocols for transplant patients.
- Beth Jackson, MD
- Clinical Interests: Voiding dysfunction, spina bifida, neurogenic bladder, urinary tract infection, nocturnal enuresis, clinical outcomes research, clinical trials.
- Research Interests: Bladder dysfunction, the contribution of dietary renal solute load to nocturnal polyuria in children with nocturnal enuresis.
- Paul T. McEnery, MD, Emeritus
- Clinical Interests: Glomerulonephritis, vitamin D resistant rickets, care of the child with end-stage renal disease.
- Research Interests: Classification, natural history, and treatment of membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis.
- Mark M. Mitsnefes, MD
- Clinical Interests: Care of children with chronic renal disease; hypertension.
- Research Interests: Epidemiology of cardiovascular disease in children with chronic renal disease.
- Larry Patterson, MD
- Clinical Interests: Congenital anomalies of the urinary tract.
- Research Interests: Genes expressed during urinary tract development; the possible role of such genes in kidney anomalies.
- C. Frederic Strife, MD
- Clinical Interests: Tubular disorders; end-stage renal disease in children; glomerulonephritis.
- Research Interests: Clinical studies of nutrition and growth in end-stage renal disease; studies in the monitoring and prevention of complications of chronic peritoneal dialysis.

- Research Interests: Abnormalities in the complement system in glomerulonephritis.
