Interview and Acceptance Process
Interested physicians who will be completing three or more years of pediatric training may apply for a fellowship in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
Interviews
Potential fellows are strongly urged a personal interview, and the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension provides candidates with one night's lodging in Cincinnati.
Generally, the interview involves all of the faculty and fellows of the Division. If the candidate has a specific research interest in one of the focus areas, a visit with the cooperating faculty in that area will also be arranged. This is particularly important for candidates who may be interested in the epidemiology and biostatistics option.
Acceptances
Applications are accepted and positions are filled on an ongoing basis. The Division's goal is to offer positions by April 1 of the year preceding the start of training, and to have commitments from new fellows by June 1. Since the fellowship positions are sometimes filled up to two years in advance, however, potential candidates are urged to communicate their interest as soon as possible in the course of their residency.
The appointment is for three years and begins in July of each year.
The University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, and the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension are committed to the recruitment, training, and success of underrepresented minorities and women in biomedical research. Applications from such candidates are particularly encouraged.
