Job Responsibilities

At Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the Orthopaedic Surgery fellow's immediate supervisor is the full-time faculty member on whose service the fellow is presently rotating.

All urgent and emergent questions / issues concerning patients on the service are to be addressed directly with the pertinent faculty member. The complete hierarchy of responsibility follows (in order of increasing level of responsibility):

  1. Full-time faculty member with whom the fellow is rotating
  2. Director, Division of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery
  3. Surgeon-in-Chief, Cincinnati Children's
  4. Director, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Research Foundation, and
  5. Chief Executive Officer, Cincinnati Children's

This "chain of command" is explicitly communicated to the fellow in both written and oral form during the orientation process at Cincinnati Children's.
