Behavioral Medicine / Psychology Fellowship Program

Philosophy

At Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship training occurs in a setting that values:

  • All individuals and their right to full inclusion as participating, contributing, and equal members of the community and of society at large, regardless of handicapping or chronic condition, developmental stage or age.
  • Excellence of supports and services for individuals and continual evaluation of effectiveness.
  • Provision of excellence of training for individuals at all levels, and personal involvement in continuing education.
  • Integrity in all efforts, as evidenced by striving to do what is legally and ethically right for all individuals In keeping with the advanced level of training, a mentorship approach is used. Thus, prior to acceptance into the program, the fellows are matched to mentors and particular areas of clinical work/training or research based upon their interests.

Within the content focus area chosen, fellows will have opportunities for training and supervision in the development of skills in clinical care, research, teaching, and general professional development. The areas of training mirror the areas in which the faculty of Cincinnati Children's are evaluated and expected to excel. Consistent with faculty expectations, the proportion of time devoted to each of these activities will depend on the individual postdoctoral fellow, his / her supervisor's expertise and the setting in which he / she is working.
