Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation (CCRF) (CCRF) supports basic science core facilities including a Transgenic mouse core, Morphology core and an imaging core. Senior investigators within the CCRF have worked to facilitate interactions between clinicians and basic scientists at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and CCRF.

One important component was the creation of the Translational Research Trials Office (TRTO) (TRTO), which provides support for clinical protocol development and implementation, tissue and sample repositories and tracking, clinical research data collection, research nurses and research coordinators. Bruce Trapnell, MD, is currently Francis R. Luthor Endowed Chair and Director of Translational Pulmonary Medicine Research within the Division of Pulmonary MedicineSander Vinks, PharmD, PhD, is Director and Principle Investigator of the Pediatric Pharmacology Research Unit (PPRU) (PPRU) at Cincinnati Children's. Dr. Vinks has ongoing interests in pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling and therapeutic drug monitoring, especially as it related to patients with cystic fibrosis
