Curriculum
At the core of the Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Fellowship Program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is an extensive and diverse curriculum.
Clinical
12-month Program
This program is designed for residents completing a combined residency program in pediatrics and Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine (PM&R) and once completed will allow them to sit for subspecialty certification in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine.
Fellows will participate in inpatient management of patients on the rehabilitation unit, consultation on inpatients requested by other services and outpatient evaluations of children in pediatric rehabilitation clinic and other subspecialty and multidisciplinary clinics. In addition, research training will be provided to the fellow through coursework provided through the Department of Pediatrics Fellowship Program.
Fellows will be required to present an abstract / paper or poster presentation during or following the academic year in which they are a fellow at Cincinnati Children's.

24-Month Program
This program is designed for residents completing a categorical residency in an ACGME-accredited PM&R program and once completed will allow them to sit for subspecialty certification in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine.
Fellows will participate in inpatient management of patients on the rehabilitation unit, consultation on inpatients requested by other services and outpatient evaluations of children in pediatric rehabilitation clinic and other subspecialty and multidisciplinary clinics. In addition, research training will be provided to the fellow through coursework provided through the Department of Pediatrics Fellowship Program.
Fellows will be required to present an abstract / paper or poster presentation during or following the academic years in which they are a fellow at Cincinnati Children's.

Outpatient Clinics
Didactics / Education
Fellows will participate in multiple didactic lectures and conferences including:
- Both Department of Pediatrics and Department of PM&R Grand Rounds
- Weekly pediatric PM&R focused lecture series
- Monthly Pediatric Rehabilitation Journal Club
- Bimonthly Cincinnati Children's Fellow Conferences
- Intermittent pediatric resident noon conferences
Additionally, fellows will participate in lectures regarding research development including Research Design and Analysis course, Ethics in Research course and Medical Writing. A course in Faculty Development Basics will also be provided to assist in teaching the fundamentals of teaching to adult learners.
Research
The fellowship offers opportunities to learn and enhance the skills needed for conducting independent research. Courses are available in basic biostatistics, epidemiology and clinical research methods as discussed above in the didactic / education section.
Each fellow is expected to complete at least one research project during the fellowship. Project development is under the guidance of one or more faculty members with the Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation as well as a mentorship team.
The Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation has a regularly scheduled journal club. Collaboration with faculty members in other Divisions is encouraged. Practical experience is provided to fellows in areas including research design and implementation, data analysis, abstract writing and presentation, and manuscript preparation.
Teaching
Through seminars, formal presentations and practical experience, fellows acquire necessary skills in a variety of settings. Fellows obtain practical teaching experience, including presentation of formal lectures, seminars and workshops to a wide spectrum of audiences. Faculty critique fellow presentations in an effort to continuously improve skills.
Administration
A curriculum addressing administrative issues is presented over the course of the core fellowship. Topics include policies and procedures, personnel management and financial issues. Fellows receive a limited amount of practical administrative experience during their training.
