| For additional help, the Genetics Education Program for Nurses has compiled a list of frequent questions. |
To participate in the Genetics Education Program for Nurses' Independent Self-Paced Modules offered through Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, participants' computers must meet specific requirements:
Personal Computers
- 64 MB of RAM
- At least a modem: 56 kbps (Network card and broadband would be preferred)
- 65,000 color video display card
- At least Windows 95, 98, WinNT, ME, 2000 and XP
- Browser support: At least Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6; Netscape Navigator 6 series or 7 series. NOTE: The modules will not run from Mozilla.
- Wireless Connection and Browser support: The modules will not run using a wireless connection with the following browsers: Netscape or Mozilla. If you are using a wireless connection, it is recommended that you use Internet Explorer 5.5, 6 or newer.
- Your PC must be equipped with Java Virtual Machine (JVM), as submitting a survey or test is performed by java applet. In addition, cookies must be enabled in order to use all the features in the modules (If your computer is not equipped with a version of Java, you will not be able to advance through the modules.) http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
- Email access
- Please verify that you have the following programs:
- Adobe Acrobat
- Flash Player
- Sun Java (only if your computer is not equipped with Java)

Macintosh Apple
The self-paced modules will run on a Macintosh with the following specifications:
If your Macintosh meets the above specifications and you are unable to proceed in the course, please complete
the next two functions:
- Check for software updates
- In Safari, click on "reset Safari" and delete your cookies and cache internet files
- Because some of our products have audio, you will need to download Windows Media Player.
