The general GRE is required by the College of Education, Criminal Justice & Human Learning for all other applicants. Successful applicants are expected to have minimum GRE scores of 450 (Verbal), 520 (Quantitative), with a combined total of at least 1000, as well as an Analytic Writing score of at least 4.0.

Visit the ETS web site for test locations and to schedule a test or to obtain a copy of a previous test. The original test scores must be submitted with your application, and will be returned to you. Test scores are valid and accepted for five years after taking the test.

GRE Preparation Assistance

GRE preparation assistance is available free in a variety of forms and can be found by searching the internet for "free GRE preparation." Below is a brief listing of sites (and does not constitute endorsement). Additional print resources can be found at local libraries and bookstores or through online retailers.

  • 550 (paper), 213 (computer-based), or 79-80 (web-based)
