Tuition
Tuition for the programs is calculated on a per-credit-hour basis. For the Summer 2009 through Spring 2010 academic year, the cost is:
- $689 per credit hour in-state (Ohio)
- $699 per credit hour out-of-state and international
This cost is subject to increase each year, normally in summer. The total amount includes instruction fees from both UC and Children’s Hospital.
At this current rate, the 15-credit hour Certificate program will cost $10,335 in-state and $10,485 out-of-state, and the 45-credit MEd program will cost $31,005in-state and $31,455 out-of-state.
Out-of-state students who are not matriculated into either the MEd or Certificate programs will be charged $1033 per credit hour.
Books
The book fee varies by course, and students are given complete information and ample time to order books. For a $15 per course handling fee (plus the cost of the books and shipping), the program office can order the books and ship to the students.
Billing and Payment
Tuition and other costs are billed via email by Cincinnati Children’s each quarter, and payment is to be made to Cincinnati Children’s via check or credit card. Payment is generally due by the first day of class.
Tuition Support / Financial Aid
Students are encouraged to seek tuition support opportunities through their home institution. Students taking 6 credit hours per quarter may also be eligible to apply for a student loan through the University of Cincinnati Financial Aid Office. The program does not have grants, graduate assistantships or other financial aid available. There is no discount for Cincinnati Children’s staff; however, the program is approved for the tuition reimbursement benefit.
University of Cincinnati Tuition Remission
Faculty and Staff of the University of Cincinnati, and their families, are eligible to receive Tuition Remission. Please let the program coordinator know if you will have tuition remission. Depending on employment / faculty status, an application will need to be submitted to UC Human Resources every quarter (part-time) or every academic year (full-time). For affiliated faculty at Cincinnati Children’s, the form must be submitted through your division and the Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation (John Maybury's office). The form must be received by UC HR before the quarter begins to have the tuition remission applied – please allow ample time for processing.
For additional information and the application form, please visit the University of Cincinnati Human Resources Tuition Remission Benefits page.
Important Note: Tuition Remission will only cover the in-state UC part of the tuition, not the Children’s Hospital part of the tuition or the out-of-state UC surcharge ($10 per credit hour). Please contact the program coordinator for specifics. You will be responsible for paying the balance due.
Veteran’s Benefits
If you are in the US military or a veteran and would like to use VA Educational Benefits, please contact the UC Veteran’s Certification Office at 513-556-6811 or PO Box 210121, Cincinnati, OH 45221-0121. The MEd program is certified to receive benefits, but the Certificate program is not.
