The Specialty Rotation
Our Specialized Pediatric Orthopaedic Rotations at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center are evidence-based, research driven, innovative ventures that are being met with great enthusiasm by rotators. Rotations are available in "Multidisciplinary Pediatric Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine, Spinal Deformity, Hand Surgery and Musculoskeletal Tumor." They are available to any PGY 3 through PGY 5 and are scheduled in 2, 3 and/or 6 month increments. Housing is offered free of charge. Specialty rotators still take in-house call (average Q6) along with other rotators and leave no later than noon postcall. Exit evaluations are required same as regular rotators.
What Scott Rainey, DO, PGY4 from St. Joseph Health Center-Eastland, Warren, OH, whose primary interest was "spine," had to say about his residency experience:
---
"The hospital is extremely busy and the surgical volume is high. I have had the opportunity to work with several different surgeons and learn from their treatment and surgical approaches. For learning pediatric spine, both clinical and surgical, I would definitely recommend this rotation. The staff is very willing to teach and readily allow you hands-on experience in the OR."
